Project: CanSat
Status: In Progress
Repo: Private
CanSat is a challenging competition where students design a mini satellite the size of a soda can. Launched by rocket, it performs experiments and collects data as it descends by parachute, simulating real satellite missions.
Our CanSat team is building a satellite that combines essential systems, power, communication, and an onboard computer into this tiny package. Additionally, we’ve taken on a unique challenge: using air flaps and an onboard camera with machine learning we will try to find a landing site and steer toward it. We were inspired by the Mars Perseverance rover and its SkyCrane landing system. That automatically steers the rover to a safe landing site.
