We Made the Podium at Cyberskiller 2025! Report from the Finals in Warsaw and Our 3rd Place

Author: Tomasz Tarnawski

Hi everyone!

I have great news and want to share my impressions straight from the finals of one of the most important cybersecurity competitions in Poland! On Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, I had the great pleasure of being part of the team that secured 3rd place in the Cyberskiller Challenge 2025 finals. The entire event took place in the inspiring spaces of Kozminski University in Warsaw.

It was a really intense day! In the finals, we faced 20 very strong teams from all over Poland, who made it through tough elimination rounds (a total of 266 teams started!). The level was really high, and you could feel the competition in the air right until the very end.

Three Hours of Focus, Challenges, and Great Teamwork

The final lasted three hours and was a real test of technical skills, thinking under pressure, and, crucially, teamwork. As the founder of Omega Space Team, I joined forces with a great crew for the competition to tackle the challenges together. My area mainly involved coding, but I also tackled tasks in biocryptography – which, looking back, turned out to be an exceptionally time-consuming and difficult challenge!

But it's important to remember that our success is thanks to the entire team:

  • Kuba Wiśniewski did great with the penetration testing tasks, showing a knack for finding vulnerabilities in systems.
  • Kacper Łapka tackled complex cryptographic puzzles and reverse engineering, impressing with his analytical approach.

Overseeing everything was Marek Ciężobka, our teacher and mentor during the competition. His experience and calm demeanor were invaluable, especially as the clock was relentlessly ticking. He helped us maintain focus and work methodically. Although I usually operate under the Omega Space Team banner alone, in Warsaw, we formed a truly cohesive and effective team.

Final Tasks – From Pentesting to Exotic Biocryptography

The organizers prepared a really diverse set of tasks that tested practical skills across many areas of cybersecurity. There were tasks involving pentesting, classic encryption, but also more niche topics like biocryptography. I admit, the latter term sounded quite exotic, but it turned out to be another interesting challenge.

There's no denying it, the tasks were difficult, and the level of the other teams was very high. It was clear that the top contenders had reached the finals. Each task required not only knowledge but also creativity and nerves of steel.

The fight for the podium was extremely fierce, as the results clearly show. Ultimately, we secured 3rd place with 270 points. Right behind us, in fourth place, was a team with 260 points. This minimal 10-point difference shows how close the competition was and how important every single point earned was. That makes us even happier with this bronze medal!

What Does This Success Mean for Me and Omega Space Team?

Achieving a podium finish in such a prestigious competition is a great honor for me personally and confirmation that the work put into developing Omega Space Team is paying off. It's also a fantastic example of what can be achieved through good collaboration – huge thanks again to Kuba, Kacper, and Marek for the great atmosphere and joint effort!

Competitions like Cyberskiller are a great opportunity to test yourself in practice, learn something new, and meet other technology and security enthusiasts.

What's Next?

This experience definitely provides a solid dose of motivation for further work and development in the cybersecurity field. I hope this is just the beginning of the successes I'll be able to share with you on behalf of Omega Space Team.

Thanks again to the entire competition team! Keep your fingers crossed for our next challenges!

Until the next cyber-challenge!
